Statement
of Faith
We hold that the issues enumerated
herein are so completely ingrained throughout the Bible that committed
Christians should be able to embrace them. Further, any person who cannot
agree with these statements would feel uncomfortable in our midst, because
we hold, teach and practice these principles with vigor. It is also true
that the integrity of our Christian commitment as a local church would
be hindered by an accommodation of divergent opinions on these basic doctrines.
We are compelled to seek agreement on these ten issues for the benefit
of our fellowship:
Doctrines
-
The Holy Scriptures of the
Old and New Testaments are inspire by God in their entirety, without
error in all original manuscripts and are the final authority in all
matters of faith and practice.
-
The one and true living God
eternally exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
These three possess the same nature, attributes and glory.
-
Man was created directly
by God, but by disobedience he fell into sin. Therefore, he cannot
save himself.
-
Jesus Christ is God the Son
and through His virgin birth, true humanity and undiminished deity
were united in one Person forever.
-
The Lord Jesus Christ died
on the cross as a full and perfect sacrifice for sin. He was bodily
resurrected and ascended to heaven.
-
Salvation is entirely by
Gods grace, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone.
-
The Church is composed of
all true believers in Jesus Christ, united to Him by the indwelling
of the Holy spirit.
-
The local church is under
the direct authority of her only Head, the Lord Jesus Christ. In obedience
to His Word the church is to practice believers baptism and
the Lords Supper as ordinances.
-
Elders are raised up by God
to pastor His people.
-
The Lord Jesus Christ will
personally return for His church. He will reign upon the earth and
bestow the eternal blessing of heaven for those who trust in the Lord
Jesus Christ for salvation.
While recognizing that there
are numerous valid traditions and distinctives within Christianity as
a whole, there are a number of specific traditions and beliefs that we
have embraced and practice. These include:
-
The unity of the church:
The church is the bride of Christ and is composed of all true believers;
therefore, we fellowship with any true believers regardless of their
denominational affiliation.
-
The sanctity of all vocations:
Paid staff is not elevated above the members of the congregation.
Having ministers (pastors) is proper but their ministry is no more
sacred than that of the other members of the body.
-
The priesthood of all believers:
All believers make a nation of priests before God.
-
Ordinance of the Lord's Supper:
We celebrate the Lord's Supper weekly.
-
Ordinance of Believer's Baptism:
We practice baptism by immersion of those who profess their faith
in Christ.
-
Teaching by Women: Women
may teach under the authority of male leadership.
-
Importance of Missions: In
pursuing the Great Commission, we actively support local and foreign
missions.
